The Lucas Family Cemetery at Friendly Grove is the family cemetery for Robert E. Lucas & his second wife, Friendly Ashley Sumner, while they resided in Pike County, Ohio. The cemetery is located adjacent to their home, Friendly Grove, that Robert Lucas built for Friendly in 1823. The cemetery contains the graves of two of their children, Sumner Lucas and Robert E. Lucas, Jr. This cemetery and both graves are listed on the Find-a-grave Website.
The cemetery has gone through various periods of maintenance over the last 200 years, but fortunately, is currently in good repair. The area is mowed, surrounded by a fence, and the stones have been repaired. Much thanks to the current owners of the land and any that have had a hand in its upkeep. It is a marked improvement over the condition when I last saw the gravesite nearly 20 years ago.
